Environmental issue

Önmagam szórakoztatása végett egy nemmagyar poszt.

If you live in Turkey for a while, you can get used to the anti-environmental consciousness. People are littering wherever they prefer, side of highways are full of rubbish, not to mention the seacost and the water itself. No campaign to change this attitude, no nothing; and they're busily building a new nuclear plant in a danger zone (earthquakes) too.

So apparently, the nowadays' so popular green mentality is still a galaxy away from Turkey, but as I see, it is more a bliss than a curse.

Let's see: Germany, after the Fukushima disaster (which is actually not that grave as it was shown) decided to shut down half of their plants , and now planning to close the rest in the following decade. Sheer stupidity, the last somewhat stable economy in Europe is comitting a suicide, while dozens of news are happily reporting new wind turbines placed on the sea surface, or on the land. Yeah, maybe building half Germany with these generators would be somewhat enough to satisfy the needs after shutting down the nuclear plants. Not being able to withstand the pressure of the greens, Germany is about to start its slow, decreasing path.

But what about the little country of mine? It seems like the easter you are, the less is folks' environmental consience. Which, in this case is pretty good.

Half of my country's power is provided by one single nuclear plant in Paks. Nothing else needed to say. Though in these days, really young, yellow-shirted activists are attacking pedestrians and trying to start a conversation about this "green stuff". So many of them! And I really doubt if just one fifth of them know a few things about nuclear power- or just a little something from the other side's opinion. Not to mention global warming...

Debating on nuclear power with all of its pros and cons will be another topic; but let's say, as long as there is nothing as efficient as nuclear power, we should stick with as the very first choice among the renewable resources.
